The band was formed in 1989 in Osaka by Yasu and Ka-yu (then only 14 years old). Joining Kyo and Chiba. Shortly thereafter, Ka-yu left the group for unknown reasons and was replaced by Ino. In 1990 group was called Okyan Teiisu. 1991 new guitarist joined the band. Then comes the current group name Janne Da Arc inspired by manga Violence Jack. 1992 Ka-yu returned to the group. November of that year they recorded their first demo. Follow two demos in 1993 and 1994. 1995 Chiba left the band, permanently replaced by Shuji. In 1997 was released their first mini album - Resist, followed by a re-recorded version of Dearly. In 1999 was released also Chaos Mode. The same year was a turning point for the group - they signed to a recording studio. Follow debut single and tour Red Zone. In 2000 was released first album DNA. Since then they are one of the best selling bands on rock scene.
On 26.01.2007 group announce hiatus as band members began working on solo projects.
